I first published this post back in 2013. Back then, withdrawing PayPal to a Philippine bank felt like rocket science — you needed a 9-digit code, the right account number, and a prayer that the transfer wouldn't bounce.
I use Maya linked to my PayPal for online transactions like renewing my Namecheap domain. The process is smoother now, but the bank codes question still comes up all the time. And with new digital banks launching in the Philippines over the past few years — GoTyme, Maya Bank, MariBank, Tonik, CIMB, UNO — a lot of people are wondering if those are supported too.
So I updated the whole list. Here's everything you need in 2026.
First — What Are These Codes and Which One Do You Need?
Before you start copying numbers, make sure you know which code to use. There are two and they're not interchangeable.
Bank Code (BRSTN) BRSTN stands for Bank Routing Symbol Transit Number. It's a 9-digit number that identifies your bank for transactions within the Philippines. This is what PayPal, Upwork, and other platforms ask for when you link your local bank account for withdrawals.
One code per bank — it doesn't matter what branch you're in. Whether your BDO account is in Surigao, Davao, or Manila, the bank code is the same.
SWIFT Code (BIC) SWIFT stands for Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication. It's an 8 to 11-character code — a mix of letters and numbers — used for international wire transfers. If someone overseas is sending money directly to your Philippine bank account from their foreign bank, they need your SWIFT code.
The simple rule:
- PayPal withdrawal to your local bank → use BRSTN (Bank Code)
- Foreign bank wiring money directly to your account → use SWIFT Code
Important Warning Before You Use Any Code
There is a ₱250 return fee charged by PayPal if you enter the wrong bank information and the transfer bounces back. Always double-check the code and your account number before confirming.
If your bank isn't on the official PayPal list — it means PayPal transfers to that bank may not be supported. Don't guess. Contact your bank directly to confirm.

Digital Banks and E-Wallets — 2026 Update
This is the section most people are looking for now. The Philippine banking landscape has completely changed since 2013.
What's Different About Digital Banks
Digital banks in the Philippines operate under BSP licenses but handle transfers differently from traditional banks. Most support InstaPay and PESONet for receiving transfers — but not all are linked to PayPal directly for withdrawals.
GCash operates under Globe Xchange, Inc. with a BRSTN of 018040010. But GCash is an e-wallet, not a bank — you can receive transfers to it but PayPal withdrawal directly to GCash works through a separate integration inside the GCash app itself, not through the standard bank linking process.
Here are the known BRSTN codes for digital banks and e-wallets in the Philippines:
| Bank / E-Wallet | BRSTN | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| GCash (G-Xchange, Inc.) | 018040010 | Use GCash app integration for PayPal — not standard bank link |
| Maya (Maya Philippines, Inc.) | — | Link via Maya app directly to PayPal |
| CIMB Bank Philippines | 010590011 | Powers GSave inside GCash |
| Tonik Digital Bank | 011168015 | BSP-licensed digital bank |
| GoTyme Bank | — | Gokongwei Group — contact bank for BRSTN |
| UNObank | — | Contact bank directly for transfer codes |
| UnionDigital Bank | — | Digital arm of UnionBank |
| Overseas Filipino Bank (OFBank) | — | Digital subsidiary of Landbank |
MariBank Philippines (formerly SeaBank): MariBank is the mobile banking application of MariBank Philippines Inc., a rural bank formerly known as SeaBank Philippines before being acquired by MariBank Singapore Private Limited. Their official help center confirms they have a SWIFT code and bank code but requires you to contact them directly at (+632) 8424 8050 or chat via their app to get the current codes — as these are subject to change after the rebrand.
🚫 Banks Removed From the Official PayPal List
These banks were in my original 2013 post but are no longer on PayPal's official list — either closed, merged, or no longer supported:
- Allied Banking Corp — merged into PNB
- Export & Industry Bank — closed
- Intl Exchange Bank — closed
- Prudential Bank — merged into BPI
- Intl Nederland Bank — no longer operating in PH
My Personal PayPal Setup
I use Maya linked to my PayPal account for online transactions — domain renewals at Namecheap, occasional software subscriptions. The process is seamless because Maya has a native PayPal integration built into their app.
If you're choosing a bank specifically for PayPal withdrawals and you want the simplest experience — BPI, BDO, and UnionBank are still the most reliable. They've been on the PayPal list since the beginning, they have local branches everywhere, and their online banking apps are stable.
For digital-first users, Maya and GCash both have PayPal integrations — but through their own apps, not through the standard 9-digit bank code process.
How to Link Your Bank to PayPal — Quick Steps
- Log in to your PayPal account at paypal.com
- Click Wallet at the top menu
- Click Link a bank account
- Enter your bank name — PayPal may auto-fill the bank code
- If not, enter the 9-digit BRSTN from the list above
- Enter your bank account number
- PayPal will verify the account — this may take 2-3 business days
Before I Close This Tab
The bank codes themselves haven't changed much since 2013 — which is actually reassuring. The big change is the addition of digital banks and e-wallets that weren't around when I first published this list.
If your bank isn't listed here or you're unsure about a digital bank's BRSTN — call the bank directly before entering anything. A wrong code costs ₱250 to fix. A 2-minute phone call is cheaper.
And if you're just starting out with PayPal in the Philippines — welcome to one of the most useful online payment tools available to Filipino freelancers, bloggers, and online sellers.
Disclaimer: Bank codes are subject to change. Always verify with your bank or PayPal's official website before transacting. This post is for general information only and is not financial advice.
Did I miss your bank? Drop it in the comments and I'll add it to the list. If your bank code is different from what's listed here, share it too — let's keep this updated together.
